Several years ago, I visited Bavaria (specifically Zugspitze) and was completely struck by the landscape, and having mountains on the horizon.
In contrast, Cambridge is utterly flat, and for about a month or so after I came back, I'd see mountains on the horizon for a moment before realising they were just clouds.
Time and time again I have said no To chasing sunrise I'd better stay with what I know And that's where home lies Oh, and it's good enough for me This is my horizon This city shows me all I want to be Time and time again, I somehow failed At chasing blue skies I never felt the need to sail To travel so wide Oh, but little did I see How flat my land could be Now I've travelled I don't recognise my homeland All these valleys turned to parks And I am home now, though I've never been so far Instead of mountains that are scored across my heart There's only cloud, covering the sky from the horizon to the stars Time and tide tend to ebb and flow And always will do But I have seen now where they go And I have been too Oh, and little did I see How flat my land could be Now I've travelled I don't recognise my homeland All these valleys turned to parks And I am home now, though I've never been so far Instead of mountains that are scored across my heart There's only cloud, covering the sky from the horizon to the stars The stars To the stars... Oh, a little piece of me Still lives among the peaks Missing from my homeland... Instead of mountains that are scored across my heart There's only cloud, covering the sky from the horizon Of my homeland All these valleys turned to parks And I am home now, though I've never felt so, Never felt so... Instead of mountains that are scored across my heart There's only cloud, covering the sky from the horizon to the stars The stars To the stars... Oh, there's a little piece of me Still high among the peaks And always will be
